The Promises of Isaiah 58:11
(This study has valuable lessons for both mature Christians and new believers!)
"The Lord will guide you continually, And satisfy your soul in drought, And strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail."
"The Lord will guide you continually"
Isaiah 48:17 John 10:3-4
Jesus wants to be your constant shepherd (Isaiah 40:11), guiding you in the little details of the day and in the big turns of your life (Isaiah 42:16). Surrender your life to Jesus moment by moment and be sensitive, willing, and open to His direction (Psalm 25:4-5).
"And satisfy your soul in drought"
Psalm 36:9 Matthew 11:28-30
Jesus is the only one that can truly satisfy the longings of your heart (Psalm 63:1-2). Only in an abiding relationship with Him is the soul truly content. Jesus says in Matthew 5:6 "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled (satisfied)".
"And strengthen your bones"
Psalm 31:24 Isaiah 41:10
This phrase means to deliver, equip, and make strong. Jesus wants to equip us with the "whole armor of God" (Ephesians 6:13-18) so that we can be strengthened for the battles against sin and self.
"You shall be like a watered garden"
Jeremiah 31:12 Psalm 1:3
Isn't it a wonderful thought to know that the Lord wants you to be a beautiful garden? Think about these characteristics of a flourishing garden of the heart:
A Garden...
Reflects
the beauty and power of our Creator God
Is alive with life and ever growing upward
Is fruitful (overflowing with the fruits of the Spirit)
Enjoys a close relationship with
the Gardener
Is peaceful and relaxing to be around
Thirsts for the rain of the Holy Spirit.
"And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail"
Revelation 21:6 Isaiah 41:17-18
Jesus wants your Christian experience to be alive and refreshing, not stagnant and stationary (John 7:37-38). Christ said in John 4:14 "But the water that I will give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life". May Jesus perform all these wonderful promises in your life today and for evermore!
