Are we living in "the end times"?
First of all, check out the Uncommon Knowledge section of our website for detailed information on this subject.
Our Lord Jesus,
who ascended up into heaven after He rose from the dead, said that He would
return to this planet once again. According to the Bible, this is the
event that marks the end of this world as we know it now. Jesus talked
in many places about this event and how it will take place.
Christ also provided us with many signs and indications to help us know when we are living in the last days. In Luke 21:29-31, He said "Look at the fig tree, and all the trees. When they are already budding, you see and know for yourselves that summer is now near. So you also, when you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near." Since we can observe these signs being fulfilled (such as an increase in war, disease, crime, natural disasters, etc.) we certainly know that Jesus is going to come soon. We are living in that time right now.
So what does
this mean for you and me? It means that we should be living for God
and not simply living to please ourselves. It means that we should be
seeking His will in our everyday lives as we strive to walk closer to our
Matthew 7:21-23. Jesus
said that when He returns, many will claim to have followed Him, but He will
plainly respond "I never
knew you". If we
expect Jesus to know us when He comes back, then we need to spend our time
getting to know Him right now, before it's too late.
