: Star Wars: Rogue One - December 16th 2016
: *<JO>*Scalarik May 23, 2014, 03:16 AM
Lucasfilm and Disney have confirmed a spin-off Star Wars film to be out December 16th 2016, exactly one year from Episode VII.

When they first announced they'd do a film per year, I didn't believe it. I guess they were serious :o.

I hope this doesn't compromise the quality!

Quality compared to what?
The non-existing movies that were scheduled?

We often forget that I,II, III did not live up to IV, V and VI.
They didn't. Sure, better effects, more action, blah blah blah....they were not what the originals were.

I don't expect these to be either...but at least they will be ABOUT Star Wars!!!!
If Jar Jar didnt turn me off, nothing Disney does will truly matter. After all, they are in this for the $$$$$, dont you ever forget that.

Hard core fans will whine and complain...to hell with them, they should be Startrek fans for all I care.

I dont see how Quality will be affected....stop comparing them and enjoy them for what the are/will be...THE FUTURE of Star Wars, not the past.

I think ultimately you're right, Master, because new life in the Star Wars universe would be great. In nornal scenarios however I'm often more inclined to say no to sequels. Nobody would have wanted a Big Lebowski 2, right? I feel that way too often sequels are made just for the money and that they devalue the original movie.

Star Wars: Rogue One, the spin off coming in 2016, will focus on how the Death Star plans got stolen. Confirmed (again) in SWCA.

That looks pretty decent. I've seen TFA by now and I've got to say I wasn't impressed. And before people say, "You'd already made up your mind to hate it so of course you did," I have a control: I watched it with my mum, who greatly enjoyed the OT but never read any of the EU and hadn't read anything about TFA beforehand. She had exactly the same reaction as me.

But Rogue One does look quite interesting. My only gripe is that it doesn't have Kyle Katarn ::)

Who's that long haired dude in the tan gear? I assumed he was Kyle Katarn, but I'm usually wrong about that sorta stuff. :D

Yeah, I've since looked at the trailer in more detail and he might be Kyle, or at least based on him, but if that's the case he should really be the focus of the film, rather than Jyn, who some people are suggesting is based on Jan Ors :P

But still, I'm looking forward to this film much more than TFA :D

Yeah, at least this one looks like Star Wars  :D

Seriously, I loved every bit of the aesthetic. The AT-ATs, the Star Destroyers, the Death Star... they looked brilliant in that trailer.

Just saw it. Wow... Better than the prequels, TFA and I'd even say one of the sequels... So good!

Who has ever forgotten the prequels didn't live up to the original trilogy?

I'm just curious where those people who have forgotten are because I need to meet them. Immediately.
