X-Mex First Class
« on: August 01, 2011, 06:30 AM »
I was surprised by this movie.
Quite enjoyed it to be honest.

Once you get past all the inconsistencies with the comics, it was actually fun to watch.

There was one inconsistency that I disliked between this prequel and the Wolverine prequel, and it has to do with Xavier.  To save any spoiler for those who haven't seen it, please PM me here in the forums or catch me on IM to find out what it is.  Unless of course nobody minds if I post it here.  lol

Well, we all know that the first 3 movies take place with Wolverine not having a full memory of his past.  The Xmen Origins: Wolverine explains is, obviously, and is supposed to be modern times not long before the 1st Xmen movie.  With 1st class starting during WWII and then jumping to the early 60's during the cold war.

The inconsistency that is between 1st Class and Wolverine is that 1st Class puts Xavier in a wheelchair at the end of the movie, where at the end of Wolverine he isn't.  In Wolverine, at the end of the movie where all the young mutants are on the island and running out of the buildings, Xavier (played by Patrick Stewart) IS STANDING next to the helicopter and NOT wheelchair bound.   1st class is supposed to be over 30 years prior to Wolverine, so I don't understand how they can make him wheelchair bound in 1st class when he wasn't in Wolverine.

My guess is that Origins is supposed to be as related to the other X-Men movies as Batman Begins and The Dark Night is related to Batman Returns. In other words, they aren't. I think it was kind of cool to bring in Hugh Jackman and all but I don't think that, other than that, the movies are meant to stand together.

Like I said, I didn't like how they put Xavier in the wheelchair in 1st Class 30+ years before Wolverine took place when Xavier wasn't in one at the end of Wolverine.  Other than that, it was a great movie.
