They've died down in London now, thankfully. When they were going on, I put myself on hour arrest unless it was going directly to another house so I'm fine! It's awful seeing all of these places I go to being ravaged, and watching it on the news while being able to look at your window and see the helicopter taking the footage.

It's not been that bad in my county, Police here were also able to be quick enough to deal with offenders and also arrest those that were inciting it on facebook etc. Awful what happened in London and other areas.

I won't comment on this much because I may offend someone who is a liberal and thinks and individuals rights is more important then the good of the many.

All those wankers tweeting where and when they are going to rob a store, trying on clothes as they loot, throw bricks at cops, etc...and pretend they are doing it because some drug dealer who shot a cop got shot...well I woudn't be as easy going on them.

If the populous is going to act in such a detrimental manner to society and with such disregard for public property, health and safety, they need to be put down. I don't give a rats buttocks about their economic status. That excuse of "I am poor, so I don't know any better" or "this is how I survive, eat or be eaten" is as good as an excuse to get away with doing something wrong as being a "sex addict" was for Tiger Woods.

I hope they arrest and put away many of those morons.

Having said that, I am glad you guys are ok but if I ever found out any of you participated in that BS, I would lose all respect for you.

God save the Queen

Regards,
Menelaos

You needn't worry about offending anyone here, Mene, your views here are shared populous.

People were screaming to 'bring the army in', but that'd caused way too many problems, the cause for that being that they aren't trained in domestic disturbances such as this on our own soil. As for the Territorial Army, well... no clue.

What the govt did after their 'COBRA' meeting (which is an emergency meeting held by all department heads) is authorise plastic bullets and water cannons, but that's not only too late but too little. Too little, because a) these degenerates didn't care about deaths, and b) it was only authorised to be used if they were shot at by live rounds (...). As for too late, well they brought in the water cannons from Northern Ireland after it'd settled moreso across most of the nation, void Liverpool, Manchester and a few West Midland areas.

I'll share with you two conflicts I had with two of these rioters on another forum.

EDIT: Can't find the second.

LOOTER A:
Quote
You people are sitting behind your computers making assumptions. I was in Birmingham yesterday and people were looting yes. I looted myself and got some shoes and stuff, why not? The government pays single mothers £20 a week for child benefits, taxes the sh*t out of peoples hard earned wages and what do we get in return? Nothing. Consider this us taking back something that should be ours, a nice television for all our troubles and bullsh*t that we've been through the past decade with this stupid bullsh*t government and it's oppressive police force, but you non-british people call it disgraceful? urgh, get away.

MY RESPONSE:
Quote
You made the rest of us good-will, innocent tax-payers have to pay more due to your selfish trashing and looting. What about the people who need work? When they trashed a building that supplies Sainsbury's, do you know how many people they put out of work? 750 people. Think of what proportion of this number have mouths to feed.

This wasn't about taxes, give me a break. This is your way of attempting to justify being a thug. You've just caused a bigger disturbance for the right-minded people of this nation who've now got to foot the bill for your actions. What about the rest of us? You think that you're the only people affected by a crap government?

I only hope your sorry buttocks is caught on CCTV, I'd love you to get identified and thrown behind bars and have a big, juicy criminal record next to your name for the rest of your life.

LOOTER A:
Quote
As for anybody else who thinks looters are bringing shame upon on the country, how about you take a good look around you and open your eyes. You're being screwed over on a daily basis by your government and when someone stands up to actually speak out about it, we're greeted with insults from the people and violence from the police. I guess that's just todays society though right? I mean, nobody gives a (curse word) about freedom of speech anymore, they would rather just sit in their comfy house and pretend everything is fine and dandy. Well news flash, it isn't and it won't be until people get up and take a stand against this ridiculous regime.

It says a lot about the British public's intelligence really, if they're more worried about careless looting than the actual real reason behind the madness. Tell me this, how many of you have sat there and though "omg this looting is terrible and disgusting"? I bet plenty of you have, but you know what none of you have thought about? The guy who was gunned down by police once he was apprehended.

Property can be replaced, a human life cannot, so grow up and get off your moral high ground.

MY RESPONSE:
Quote
No one has a shread of belief for your story. Where some politicians (most of whom are running as opposition) have tried pinning it on politics; the majority of journalists and witnesses say otherwise. It's sheer opportunism for low-life thugs (such as yourself) to get some trainers and a huge TV. Even if, say, you genuinely believe that this is why the riots happened, can you honestly tell me that everyone else did?

The Tottenham riots were to do with the Mark Duggan being shot. Do you honestly think the Met police will have had no reason to react? Oh and hey, if it's about the loss of a life; enjoy this for a moment.

Meanwhile, Scotland Yard said a 26-year-old man shot in a car during riots in Croydon has died in hospital. - BBC News

Well done, now there's an innocent guy who's been killed. Still rioting because some crack dealer's been shot? Or wait, is it because of taxes? Well, according to BBC's live news, the tax payers now have to pay more to foot the bill of the travesties you've caused. So, what's it about now? You've shot a guy and taken money out of the tax payer's pocket! Well sh*t, you're starting to look like the enemy, aren't you? You insult Britain's intelligence, but who's the one resorting to smashing sh*t up and stealing to get their voice heard?

He stopped responding to me at that point. ;)

Weird thing for me is half of Basildon town turned up to stop the riots with me, so anyone who planned on starting it would have been beaten down by the 100 people who didnt want the town centre turned to crap, the police managed to perimeter off the area before anything happened aswell thankfuly.

Liverpool hasn't been as bad as it could have been. But quite frankly, I am annoyed and ashamed that a minority of people in this city have stooped as low as to loot from their communities and local areas. After years of great progress in redeveloping our reputation, we find ourselves involved in this horrible mess. Looting is the lowest of the low, I can't really put into words how disgusting the thought of it makes me feel.

Vast majority aren't doing this for a cause other than their own personal greed. It's gone far beyond any political agenda that may have been originally behind it.

Glad all you guys are fine. Probably not the best idea to try and stop them yourselves though. Should probably just leave it to the police. Although if you have a big group like that its better I guess.

And Master Mene, being liberal doesn't mean supporting the rights of the individual over the many. Libertarians and anarchists would feel that way, though.
