Part VI of The Story of Tomius.
Final Part.
Special thanks to Master Narretas for all your help!
In a galaxy far, far away…
It is mayhem in the lower levels of Corscant!
A viscous battle has begun between the gangs and the Sith Empire.
With the Sith Empire clearly winning,
Tomius is trying to escape the battle with his life.
However, one Sith Warrior has other plans…
An evil face glares at Tomius, laughing at his next victim. Tomius backs away, frightened to the very core. He had seen what the Sith were capable of and had no intention to be here, to find for himself.
The small Twi’lek boy ran with determination for the door out of the great hall.
Just as Tomius was about to exit the corpse littered hall, he looked back at the deathly, on-going battle. The hall has been destroyed. The gang annihilated. The mass of bodies are now mostly the colours of red and black…the colour of the Sith. Tomius gazes quickly for survivors as he starts backing towards the door. The only ones lucky enough to survive the onslaught were now running terrified from the evil army or surrendering, hoping to be spared. However it was obvious none would. Sith warriors had executed any foolish to surrender to them.
Feeling too scared to feel sorrow or remorse for the dead, Tomius ran out of the hall with the evil Sith close behind. Tomius ran faster than he ever knew he could. He was running for his life. The Sith cackled with pleasure and continues the hunt.
Worry seeped in as Tomius realised he was lost. There were numerous corridors and passages he could take. The Sith was catching him up and he only had a rusty, old pistol to defend himself with.
Tomius panicked as he ran. He was getting tired. He looked back at the Sith. His black armour glistened against the white corridors. A deathly, red lightsaber was ignited in his right hand. On his face was a twisted, mad smile. It petrified Tomius. How could something so evil and deadly smile like that.
Tomius continued to run, finding strength from inside himself. But no matter how fast he run, how many turns he took, the Sith was always behind him, slowly catching him up. As every second pass, Tomius heard the humming of the Sith’s lightsaber get louder.
Just as Tomius thought he could not run anymore, he saw the door to the hanger. By sheer luck he had stumbled across it and it motivated him to escape unharmed. Using what energy he had left he sprinted towards the door. However a voice cackled “Oh no you don’t, you little brat!”
Tomius saw something fly over his head. In front of him landed the triumphant Sith. Tomius had to skid to a halt to avoid bashing into the bulky figure. As he stood still in shock and dread, the Sith raised his deadly lightsaber, ready to strike Tomius down.
At that very moment, a power surged with in Tomius. It felt strangely familiar yet alien to him. Instincts took over and Tomius channelled that store of energy out of his hands towards the Sith. The strength of the push was enough that the Sith went flying into some cargo boxes on the other side of the ancient hanger. Once more Tomius felt hopeful that he could escaped. He legged it to one for the many old ships. ‘If he could just get inside and take off, he would be safe,’ Thought Tomius.
However, Tomius’s hopes were crushed. He felt a ulmightly force slam into him, sending him flying against the near concrete wall. Tomius slammed into it. Pain from the impact with the hard wall momentarily clouded his mind. He had broken his arm in the collision.
Tomius opened his tired eyes. He saw the Sith striding towards him, cackling uncontrollably.
“Well, well, well. What do we have here?” mocked the Sith. “Looks like we will be having some fun, young Jedi!”
Tomius looked at the terrible Sith with confusion and fear. Why did the Sith call him a Jedi? And what was he going to do to him?
The Sith ignited his destructive lightsaber once more. He carefully pointed it at Tomius’s terrified face and laughed as he moved it closer, towards his eye. The Sith Sliced gently down from Tomius’s eyebrow to his cheek. Tomius had never felt so much awful pain and could not help but scream. Blood dripped from the wound and his flesh burnt.
Tomius’s pain encouraged the Sith and he cackled even more. Tomius closed his eyes as the Sith raised his weapon once more.
“You are weak, Jedi. And the weak do not deserve to live. I shall put you out of your…” Started the Mocking Sith, but he did not finish and an almighty smack echoed around the hall. Tomius opened his uninjured eye. He saw the tall Sith fall to the ground with a thud, unconscious. The evil, dreadful face was soon replaced by a smiling, cheeky face of an older Twi’lek. He held a hi-tech pistol upside down in his hand, which he must of used to hit the Sith.
“Aren't you a clumsy one?” Laughed Tomius’s Saviour, pointing at him. “I am Narretas Skylek, and who are you my silly little friend?”
“T…T…Tomius.” He stuttered, still shocked at what he had just witnessed.
Narretas looked at Tomius and tutted, “What are we going to do with you?”
The Sith stirred at the cocky Twi’lek’s feet. Narretas quickly pulled out a scattergun from under his coat and shot the Sith once in the back. The body lay still.
“Here, clean yourself up” Commanded Narretas as he threw Tomius a bacta pack.
Tomius barely caught the pack as it tumbled through the air. As Tomius tried to clean and heal himself, Narretas started to fumble around in the Sith’s pockets. The Twi’lek then stood up, with what look like credentials and a key card in this hand.
“So not only did you kill him, you are now thieving from him?” questioned Tomius.
Narretas looked at Tomius and laughed. “This is our ticket out of here my little friend, and I wouldn’t complain…I could have left him to kill you.”
Tomius remained quiet at this answer and merely stood up with whatever energy he has left.
“Follow me Tomius, we are going to steal this guy’s ship and get out of Corscant.” Instructed Narretas.
Tomius obeyed Narretas and they both made their way out of the lower cities of Corscant, using Narretas’s Stealth belt to go undetected. They found the Sith’s ship parked on then outskirts of the ruins of the Jedi temple. Narretas used the key card, that he stole, to unlock the ship and they both boarded.
Tomius went straight to the medical bay to see if he could find anything to ease the pain the Sith caused. However he found nothing. Narretas started up the engines and took off. As the ship gained speed, Tomius felt his fatigue and lied down in a neatly made bed in the medical bay. From what Narretas told him when he woke up, they managed to get through the huge Sith blockade around Corscant without a problem, thanks to the credentials Narretas Stole. Narretas has then travelled swiftly to Tython.
Tomius and Narretas left the ship and made their way to the Jedi Temple. There they parted ways. As Tomius was aboiut to walk into the ancient temple, Narretas pointed at him and said “I’ll see you later.” With that Narretas zoomed off in his ship. Up to what? No one knows. Though he would later return, to get his missions from the council.
Meanwhile Tomius had requested the council that he’d be accepted by the Jedi Order and to be trained…Just as the dead Jedi had said. His destiny had started to unfold as he took his life in a new direction….To become a Jedi Knight.
3 Years Later…
Tomius happily walked out of the ancient Jedi temple. Master Atticus had just told him someone wished to speak to him outside. Tomius was very curious as to you, so immediately followed Master Atticus’s Instructions. As he got about side he stared at the scenery of Tython. It had always stunned him how beautiful it was. Huge Mountains stood in the distance and giant green trees loomed overhead. The sound of the flowing river could be heard and the grass swayed gently in the fresh mourning breeze. Tomius loved it here and did not wish to leave. However his time on Tython was drawing to a close.
Over the past years, he had been training hard and finally could control the force and had become a fair duellist. He had learnt the ways of the Jedi and had the chance to further his education.
As Tomius drifted off into further daydream, he heard someone shout:
“Hey, Tomius, come here you daft git!”
Tomius turned around to see Narretas pointing at him, smiling cheekily. He walked down the concrete steps, over to his old friend and bowed like the Masters had told him he should.
“Let’s go on my ship, I need a word.” Said Narretas swiftly.
Tomius followed him onto his ship. As Tomius studied it he thought it looked a bit old and rusty. But he decided to hold his tongue…for nows.
Narretas and Tomius made their way to the little bar, where he was poured a drink by Narretas. He sipped his drink and waited for Narretas so speak.
“Your training approaches and the council has asked me to be your Master. I am glad I can get to know you better and guide you so that one day, you'll be a fine Jedi.” Narretas said seriously. “What do you say my little friend?”
“I would love to learn from you! I promise I won’t disappoint you.” Exclaimed Tomius.
“As long as you listen to me, and try your best you will never disappoint me.” Stated Narretas. “Before we go on, do you have any questions?”
“I do have one, Master Narretas” said Tomius. “Why did you agree to take me as your padawan?”
Narretas cheeks went red as he blushed. His eyes refused to meet Tomius’s and gazed around the room. “Well….erm…The money of course…I’m getting paid tons for doing this!” Said Narretas with a nervous laugh.
However, Tomius already knew his real reason. Narretas loved the Jedi Order, even though he would not admit it, and he would do anything to help out.
And with that, Tomius took his first steps as a padawan learner. To hopefully become a fine Jedi Knight to serve the Jedi order with his life…
