Notebook
« on: July 12, 2012, 08:19 AM »
Anyone have any suggestions for any good Notebooks that are good in most aspects of use, including some gaming. I'm thinking about getting one at some point, just looking at the options.

Master

I Have had an Acer Aspire 8920G for 5 years it plays SWTOR just fine (all be it on low settings). i smoke next to it, drink and eat next to it. Its on the moment i get home to the moment i leave for work in the morning, Most weekends its on from friday to monday morning, and apart from 1 break down due to me shaking it to hard, upside down, to retrieve sesame seeds from the keyboard, and the occassional cleaning of the fan. It has given 5 years of faultless service, and continues to do so..

Consider Acer as an option

Been looking at one with these specs:

2.6GHz Quad Core Intel® Core™ i7 processor Turbo Boost 3.6GHz
8Gb RAM
512Gb Solid State Drive
15.4 inch 2880 x 1800 resolution LED-backlit display with IPS technology
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 1GB of GDDR5 memory
Up to 7 hours battery life
HDMI, 2x USB 3.0 and 2x Thunderbolt ports

What do you think?

Gaming wise, that is going to be a pretty hefty resolution display for a laptop GPU to drive, and seems a bit overkill for 15.4". I thought 2560x1600 was overkill for my 30" HP before I sold it, haha.
