Speaking during a panel at ComicCon, game director and lead designer James Ohlen was asked how many planets are in the game and whether more are scheduled for release in later expansions.

"I can say that we have 19 major worlds," he said, according to Darth Hater. "Then we have an indeterminate number of minor worlds. And our goal, obviously this being an online game that we're hoping is going to last for decades, we're going to be, obviously, adding more to the galaxy map as the game progresses.

"We want to add dozens of worlds," Ohlen added. "Hundreds of worlds eventually. In 2025, we'll hopefully have 500 worlds."

Bioware director of production Dallas Dickinson chipped in: "Guaranteed. In year 2025."

It's even crazier for me that they are expecting the game to last for 'decades'. Must have been designed to be as future-proof as possible. Good news that is.

few decades i believe is asking quite a bit.. but even a broken and shell of game as SWG has lasted 7 i believe.. so maybe it isnt so hard to believe.. 500 worlds tho?

I guess i failed in my numbers.. 133 zones total for the major planets of SWTOR; this is excluding operations, flashpoints, warzones, smaller implemented planets and space zones (since we dont actually have the information since they havent released it yet). WOW has a total of 200 zones via continents,dgs,bgs,arena and raids. Keep in mind what took wow 6 years to do SWTOR is doing in origin(launch).

numbers for was based on the lowest amount of zones[7] per planet compared to that of wow in all its expansion.
this does not include the size of wows zones vs the size of the planet and/or levels the planet contains via taris has multiple
levels(upper city, lower city). So to determine the actual size of SWTOR is impossible at this point. Darth Hater has said
it would take literally a half and hour to travel from one corner of tatt to the other. half and hour of hopping on your speeder
and punchin it to the other side.

Hopefully, we'll have vehicles that can carry multiple persons. That way we can take people who don't have vehicles themselves to places. Like in the middle of the tatooine dessert, then kick them out, and make them walk back to the nearest space port.

They do. They have landspeeders that can seat 2 at least. They are shown in videos at Comic Con. They said they're for higher level players.


They must be planning to upgrade the game engine at some point. If not I don't see how they could expect it to last so long.

speeders and land speeders alike are added. land speeders will carry multiple players and level to acquire hasnt been stated. DD first said they were making the speed of the which your vehicle has go up as you level up but they took that out. Speeders have a price for the speed level and design etc... making it less likely to have a good one in the beginning but not impossible. it solely depends on weither you wanna spend all your credits early on a speeder i guess?

free roam for pretty much all of it. They have confirmed three types of transport; Speeders, Shuttles(ferry fee not confirmed) and then also ships for planet to planet... and always the option of walking but i know i aint hoofing it across a planet that takes a half an hour to reach the other  corner on a speeder.

*Edit: Guess you were right knight Ek, ive watched video saying different things. After watching both your standard speeder bike doesnt have certain level caps yet but land speeder require a higher level, or level of driving skills as said by rick vogel in SDCC.

Yeah from what you guys say, doesn't seem like it'd be instances.

But I'm just wondering how this whole thing with accomplices will work. Groups of people fighting eachother, basically 1 guy with a few NPCs on each side?
