Wow this looks nice! I haven't been dueling that much in the past because I felt under-geared and kept losing all the time. With this balanced method effects of gear are minimized, I believe this will be great!

Also the start time of 6pm BST is excellent for me.

I'll make sure to be there once I'm fully home again (two weeks) :)

Not covering off-hands, implants, relics or earpieces there, if you can't wear any of them you've just crippled all tanks for not allowing shield generators, if you do allow them then it needs to be a white item (which I don't think there are any of) otherwise tanks are getting more stats then other classes.

Also when you level the playing field by removing gear it doesn't actually balance out the classes, because the hybrid Advance Classes (Tank/DPs, Healers/DPS) will favour one of their specs more in their basic stats. For example Trooper Vanguards have slightly higher endurance than aim, meaning a DPS specced vanguard is actually going to have a harder time fighting because they don't have DPS items to give them their DPS stats, and to be honest certain roles, mostly DPS, are more dependent on their gear then others. Healers can heal okay without gear, but a DPS needs his stats to be able to burn through those heals.

Just food for thought.

Perhaps, instead of saying what is wrong, you could try to help to get things in balance better, Padawan Kaymase. I know you're pretty good with these game mechanics ;)

Well we've had no problems in the past when doing non-geared duels. Take a look at the videos here and see for yourself. And that's only a few of the many duels we have done.

Let's just see how it goes and we can adapt the gear list if necessary.

You also have to high light what certain Advance Classes can do, for example a shadow tank/dps hybrid spec kinda needs his gear to make it do anything, ontop of that bubbles and other CDs aren't limited by gear, such as the Sentinal's 99% damage reduction at the cost of 50% health. So you will tip the balance towards those classes with powers less tied down by gear, and hurt ones that are, again just food for thought. When you rip gear away from Guardians, it'll ultimately come down to who can charge first, especially with vigilance specs since they become CC immune after charging and will continue to dominate from there onwards without letting the enemy guardian build focus.

To be perfectly honest the best way to balance the level 50 duels is just to make everyone wear recruit gear since its now free and everyone will be on the same gear level then, levels under it are harder to figure out but perhaps have a crafter make them some simple greens of the same level.

Also just a slight side note, you as a JG Tank don't require a shield gen as much as a Vanguard or Shadow. JGs tank most from defence rating while Vanguards Shield and Shadows balanced between the two.

Like I said, let's just see how it goes and we will adapt it if necessary. I don't think we are gonna need to really.

I disagree. Yes the one who gets the first leap has the advantage and can become immune, but it does not mean they automatically win. That can be said whether they are geared or not. It just requires you to use your noggin and adapt to the situation.

And you don't need the leap at all really. Yes it's helpful but it doesn't win duels. Just ask padawan Najeeke.  ;)

JG Vigil spec rotation, saber throw, leap, sundering strike, instant high focus + 4 stacks of armour sunder which allows for plasma brand, followed by blade storm then overhead strike, fit master strike in after slowing them and they can't flee, then dispatch. Now with good gear that should kill anyone except a healer, without gear the outcome is questionable since plasma brands damage is based on your Str/Power stat and your blade storm/dispatch based on your surge. People stack these stats for a reason, they aren't naturally high without gear.

This is why dueling isn't a great way to judge PvP level, the rules are completely flipped on their head from true pvp, there is no battlefield awareness coming into play, it comes down to who has better gear (which your trying to remove), who has the better CDs and who can use those CDs properly. You also have bad class match ups in duels, for example GS/Snipers with moderate to high skill levels can stop a JG/SW of any AC or spec ever getting into range to do their damage, or knock them back once they are.

I've never been a fan of duels even though I do okay in them usually, it just has zero real pvp applicability. I guess your doing it for fun which is great, but honestly try to think about the other ACs and what they need to be competitive.

Like everyone on the PvP forums will tell you, the game isn't balanced around 1v1 but what each class can do to compliment one another, this is really what should be done, possibly in outlaws den.

Let's put this back into perspective. This event is for fun and to get members together. Nothing more, nothing less. And as I've said, from the past when doing this there have been no problems.

I suggest you consider joining the eventing team that has been trying for the last few weeks to come up with and organising events for the order so everyone can enjoy themselves. That way you are actively helping the order instead of picking out every little fault and telling us how things should be done. Though we do appreciate that your trying to help.
